SUMMARY:ACEC-NH & NH Mutual Aid Meeting: Natural Disasters (New Date!)
DESCRIPTION:Dear ACEC-NH Member Firms: \nMany communities in NH have recently experienced damage to their infrastructure from natural disasters such as rain and windstorms. During these emergencies many smaller communities reach out to entities like NHDOT\, the NH Department of Safety and the NH Public Works Mutual Aid seeking professional assistance from private engineering firms. \nCurrently\, no list of engineering firms willing to assist NH towns in these emergencies exists. As a result\, ACEC-NH has been asked to create and host a list of engineering firms that would be willing to quickly respond to NH towns on an as needed basis during emergencies. When completed\, this list will be shared with relevant state agencies and NH towns. This list will be updated on an annual basis. \nThe communities are seeking help with damage assessment\, temporary repair ideas\, permitting\, etc. Most of these communities are small and have not done a lot of work with engineering firms. \nThe firms who would be included on this list are expected to be responsive and available as a resource to the communities immediately following a natural disaster. \nACEC-NH will be hosting a Teams meeting on Wednesday\, November 29th from 9am to 10am with NH Mutual Aid to discuss this list and the process of assisting communities during an extreme weather event. All member firms interested in being on the disaster aid list are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting.

SUMMARY:Value: The Engineering Industry’s Biggest Blind Spot?
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Guest Speaker\, Rich Friedman \nFar too many firms struggle with determining and articulating their differentiators\, benefits (not features!)\, and value. All too often\, expensive off-sites and other meetings are held where principals\, marketing staff\, and others pontificate these topics without the benefit of external data points. If one of our primary challenges is establishing our value to command the fees we warrant (plus avoiding commoditization in some markets)\, then we must understand what our clients value and how they measure it. In this presentation\, Rich will share tools and methods for gathering critical feedback from your clients and prospects\, as well as how to apply the feedback to effect organizational change across many areas—including strategic planning\, marketing and business development\, and project management/delivery.

SUMMARY:Employee Retention - Stay Interviews Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ACEC New Hampshire has partnered with Gro-Nova to bring our members an Employee Retention – Stay Interviews Workshop. \nAccording to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics\, the Great Resignation has resulted in over 48 million Americans quitting their jobs during the pandemic. For A&E firms\, the cost of losing valuable people is dramatic due to the loss of clients\, quality\, and experience. Performing Stay Interviews\, an alternative to exit interviews is a powerful tool to help leaders understand why employees stay and what causes them to leave. Understanding and addressing team’s issues and needs will lower the employee turnover rate and stop the Great Resignation. \nIn this workshop\, members will learn: \n• The importance of understanding why people stay\n• How to perform a Stay Interview\n• Roleplay a Stay Interview\n• What to do to improve employee retention \nThis workshop will be hosted by Jeff Gross\, Chief Empowerment Officer with Gro-Nova. \nPricing\n$50 Per Person \nZoom Meeting\nYou will receive the link to join the meeting in the confirmation email. We will also email the link to registrants the day of the event. \n

SUMMARY:Breakfast Meeting: Building a Firm-Wide Business Development Culture
DESCRIPTION:Why is building a firm-wide business development culture important? \nNow\, more than ever\, the importance of institutionalizing a firm-wide business development is paramount to the long-term success of your engineering firm. Relying on a few key rainmakers puts your firm at risk. Further\, the inability to tap and develop future business development leaders all too often results in departure of key talent—to other firms and other industries. \nWe hope you can join us for what is sure to be a great conversation. Featuring speaker\, Rich Friedman of Friedman & Partners! \nSpeaker Bio
