Upper Wilson Pond Dam Rehabilitation, Swanzey, New Hampshire
The Town of Swanzey successfully rehabilitated the Upper Wilson Pond Dam to address critical structural deficiencies and enhance public safety. The high-hazard dam was previously deemed in poor condition by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Dam Bureau due to its inadequate hydraulic capacity and deteriorated spillway.
DuBois & King led an alternative analysis with public engagement meetings, the design and permitting of a three-cycle labyrinth spillway, and designed other critical dam improvements. From June to September 2024, General Contractor Gordon Construction built the $1.3M project. The built project enhanced public safety by meeting modern hydraulic and structural standards, preserving recreational value, and addressing community and environmental needs.
